Last Friday night I had the pleasure of meeting 80's teen film star Corey Feldman in person. He was in Ft. Lauderdale for some convention, and then later that night he came into the club where I was at. I recognized him as soon as he walked in, even though he is looking much older these days. He's no longer the young blonde-haired kid I remember him as.
I was hesitant to approach him at first because I wasn't sure how he would react. Some famous people can be quite rude and nasty when people approach them in public. But after seeing a few other people walk up and talk to him, I figured it would be safe. So I went up to him and introduced myself. He was actually really cool and pleasant to talk to!! I told him how my brother and I grew up in the 80's and used to see him on TV all the time when we were kids and how "The Lost Boys" was one of our favorite movies. And Corey and I both agreed that the vampires in "The Lost Boys" were WAY cooler than the vampires in "Twilight" and "True Blood". Ha!
I asked him if he would be OK with taking a photo with me, and he happily obliged. He was there with a lady friend, and she took several photos of us. Unfortunately, most of them didn't turn out well due to the dark lighting in the club, so this was the best one out of the bunch. I told Corey that since "The Lost Boys" was my brother's favorite movie, I had to take a picture with him to make my brother jealous....to which he agreed. LOL
I've actually met quite a few celebrities before during my year as a state and national level beauty pageant queen and especially after moving to South Florida. Lots of celebrities have homes here, so it's very common to see them out and about in public. Shortly after I moved to Florida, I got to meet one of my favorite comedians, Ralphie May. I got to take a photo with him, and he kept telling me I was "super hot". LOL I also met former NBA star Dennis Rodman one night, but that guy is just really WEIRD. I certainly never thought I would ever be meeting any of these famous people back when I was growing up in my small po-dunk hometown in the Midwest! It just goes to show you how much the course of a person's life can change.
